October Newsletter

We are excited for the fall months and all of the activities we have planned for the season. Even though times are different, we are having to do some out of the box thinking to ensure we do not miss a beat. We would like to give thanks to all of our outstanding team members that have been showing up every day to ensure that care is top notch! Without our team members, the backbone of the community, we could not do it without them.

Warms Regards,

Alfredo Chavarria
Executive Director

The Etta at Shavano Park is happy to announce that we can now allow in-person visits under new guidelines. contact us for details and to schedule an appointment!

This past month, we were so happy to finally invite visitors back into The Etta at Shavano park! It was wonderful being able to see residents and their family members reunite after such a long time apart. It makes our hearts warm knowing that we can finally allow visitors back into The Etta safely. News 4 San Antonio was even nice enough to stop by and capture these beautiful moments! Check out the videos of the reunions here and here.

The Etta’s 2020 state survey contains no citations and surveys confirm that our community meets or exceeds state and federal standards in all areas, including safety measures, quality of care, medication management, hygiene, and more. Less than 10% of communities nation-wide receive comprehensive surveys without citations. We are proud of the care we provide and our high standards.

Congratulations to Maryann, our lucky Resident of the Month! Maryann, you actively contribute to making our community a fun and exciting place to live. Maryann loves spending her time outside on the patio or helping others in the community. Thank you for always going out of your way to lend a helping hand and for all you do to brighten up our days!

This month is Maryann’s birthday! Please join us on Wednesday, October 7th to celebrate her big day!

For National Assisted Living Week, the residents and staff at The Etta at Shavano Park celebrated in style! We had a fancy Hawaiian Luau, with delicious pineapple treats, watermelon, and more! All of our residents even dressed up in colorful, decorative leis. Some of our residents were nice enough to make some beautifully decorated masks to share! Though Shavano Park is far away from Hawaii, it sure felt like we were there!

What’s that delicious aroma floating through the air? Why, it must be a special Etta family recipe! We need your help! We’re looking for special recipes to make an Etta Family Cookbook. From the best biscuits and gravy, all the way down to Grandma’s special pecan pie, we want to know it all! If you would like to submit one of your family recipes, speak with Kay or Jennifer before the end of October.

Make it spooky or make it silly — whatever your preference. Join us for our pumpkin carving and decorating party at 4:00PM on Tuesday the 13th. We’ll have all the supplies for you to have a ghoulish time!

For this spooky and fun month of October, The Etta at Shavano Park has decided to have some tricks and treats sprinkled throughout the month. We have so many festivities and activities planned for All Hallows’ Eve, that we can’t hold onto our excitement. See you then!
